FTN utilities
This page holds a collection of small utilities related to FTN networks. Most of these utilities are distributed with full source code in C++ or Delphi. However, some of them have only Russian documentation.
EMSI Log Analyzer
This utility was written in September 1998 by request from Jury Fradkin. It analyzes the EMSI log files generated by T-Mail and tracks which mailers are used by the links of the node and when those mailers change. The distribution archive includes the C++ source code of the program and binaries for DOS and OS/2.
BlueWave to Squish converter
This utility was written in June 1996 and was designed to preserve all the echomail that I collected while reading mail through BlueWave. It converts BlueWave 2.12 mail packages to Squish message bases.
The utility was written in Borland C++ 3.1, however, part of its source code was lost. The sources were stored on a FAT filesystem, but once I edited them with an OS/2 editor that stored some file status information in the extended attributes (EAs). When I later ran Norton Disk Doctor on the FAT drive, it said that there were some problems with those files, and suggested to delete them. And I actually confirmed the deletion before I realized what files were to be deleted. :-)
Telemate Log Analyzer
This is probably my first FTN utility, written in March 1996. When I wrote it, I didn't yet have a FidoNet address, but I spent several hours each week connecting to BBS systems and downloading various files. This utility was written to calculate some statistics for uploads and downloads from various BBS systems.
The distribution archive includes the source code for the program (written in Borland C++ 3.1) and a sample results file - my actual BBS usage statistics for the period from January till May 1996. In May 1996, I got a FidoNet point address, so the program was not needed anymore - T-Mail and GoldED were much more convenient than Telemate and BlueWave.
